Copy trading, step by step — from choosing a trader to starting

3 min read

BOOPOLY's copy trading lets you pick a Polymarket trader; whenever they buy or sell, an order goes out from your own wallet by the rules you set. With 24/7 copy trading on, our server keeps copying even when the page is closed.

This guide walks through each step in the order you'll meet it. Every field is described in Copy-trading settings.

#1Choose a trader

Open Find traders in Copy trade to browse traders by P&L and volume, search by name, or paste a wallet address. A trader's page shows:

  • the cumulative P&L curve and daily P&L;
  • positions and trade history;
  • win rate, average win and average loss;
  • the kinds of markets they mostly trade.

When you're ready, press Copy this trader to open the wizard.

#2Real or Sim

  • Real: real orders with your money.
  • Sim: paper copying with virtual capital — no real money, a way to check your settings behave as you expect.

#3Copy or Counter

  • Copy: they buy Yes, you buy Yes.
  • Counter: they buy Yes, you buy No in the same market. Two-outcome markets only.

#4How much per trade

Option What it does
A percentage of their trade Spend a % of their amount — e.g. 50%: they spend $100, you spend $50
A share of theirs, within limits The same percentage, kept between a minimum and maximum you set
Fixed amount The same amount every time, whatever their order size
Smallest possible Each order is Polymarket's minimum (5 shares and $1)

Every order needs at least 5 shares and $1; a mirror that comes out smaller is skipped.

#5Order type

  • Market: fill right away — fills at the current book.
  • Limit: rest and wait — rests one tick better than their price; no fee when it fills as a maker, but it may not fill.

Add an Acceptable price gap to skip copies when the price has moved too far from their fill.

#6When they sell

Option What it does
Same proportion (recommended) They sell part of their position, you sell the same part of yours
Fixed percentage Sell the percentage you set each time
Fixed shares Sell a fixed number of shares each time
Don't auto-sell Copy buys only; you handle selling

#7Limits

  • Total budget: the most this copy spends in total.
  • Per-trade cap: the most any one mirror order spends.
  • Loss limit (stops buying): at this loss it stops copying buys; their sells are still copied.

A real copy needs a total budget or a loss limit.

#8Advanced filters (optional)

Open advanced settings to set: Ignore small orders, a Max per market, market volume and liquidity floors, categories to include or exclude, and an automatic pause after a number of hours. These can only be set when you create the copy.

#9Start and manage

Press Start copy trade (or Start simulated copy). From the copy-trade page you can pause, resume or stop it and see every mirror order and its P&L.

  • Up to 10 real copies per account at once; up to 30 in Sim.
  • To follow many traders at once, Live copy follows every trade that matches your rules (Sim only for now).
Note

Copy trading places real orders with your funds according to the rules you set. We suggest checking your settings in Sim first and setting a total budget or a loss limit.
