Finding and Evaluating Traders
Before you copy a trader, it helps to see how they have traded. BOOPOLY gives you two tools: the Trader Explorer on /copy-trade for browsing and ranking wallets, and a Trader Detail page (/user/<address>) for a detailed look at one trader.
When to use it. Use the Explorer to build a shortlist, then open Detail on each trader to review their history and statistics.
#Trader Explorer
The Find traders tab of /copy-trade is a sortable board of traders drawn from the Polymarket leaderboard. Pick a time window with the tabs at the top (Daily / Weekly / Monthly / All-time) and a category in the left sidebar (All, Politics, Sports, Esports, Crypto, Finance, Culture, Mentions, Weather, Economics, Tech). On desktop it's a sortable power-table; on mobile it's tappable cards with a Sort by control.
Each row/card shows:
| Column | UI label | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Rank | # | Position within the selected window/category. Top 3 get an accent badge. |
| PnL | P&L | Profit/loss over the selected window. The main figure in each row. |
| Open positions | Open pos. | Value and count of currently held positions. |
| Volume | Volume | Traded value over the selected window, from the leaderboard. |
| Win rate | Win rate | Share of settled positions closed in profit — lifetime when the trader is indexed, otherwise their last 50 settled positions (hover the row to see which). |
| Markets | Markets | Distinct markets traded. |
| Trades | Trades | Trade count; a trailing + means the count is capped/estimated. |
| Best win | Best win | Largest single winning trade. |
| Profit factor | Profit factor | Gross wins ÷ gross losses. Above 1 means gross wins exceeded gross losses. |
| Last trade | Last | How long ago they last traded. |
NoteIn the Explorer, the analytics columns (markets, trades, best win, profit factor, and win rate for traders not yet indexed) are estimates from each trader's recent activity — useful for a quick comparison, not exact figures. They load a moment after the base rows.
Click a trader's name to open Trader Detail. Click Copy on any row to jump straight into the copy wizard with that trader preselected.
#Trader Detail
Open at /user/<address> (old /copy-trade/trader/<address> links redirect there), or in an in-place modal from the Explorer. It pulls the trader's profile, positions, closed positions, and activity, plus their cumulative PnL series. My positions & history in the account menu opens this same page for your own wallet, with your positions and order history first.
#Header stats
Active since, Last active, Positions value, Volume, and action counts: Buys, Sells, Redeems, Merges, Splits.
#Cumulative PnL
A headline Cumulative P&L number over a chart with 1D / 1W / 1M / ALL tabs. On ALL it shows absolute lifetime PnL; on a sub-window it shows the P/L earned in that window. Alongside it: the 30-day change and the Open positions count. A monthly Daily P&L calendar below colors each day green (profit) or red (loss) by size.
#Performance Summary
The Performance summary opens with a P&L change row (1D / 7D / 30D), then:
| Stat | UI label | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| Markets / Won / Lost | Markets · Won · Lost | How many decided markets, and the win/loss split. |
| Win rate | Win rate | Share of decided markets closed in profit. Read it with profit factor: many small wins and a few large losses can still net negative. |
| Profit factor | Profit factor | Gross wins ÷ gross losses. > 1 means gross wins exceeded gross losses. |
| Avg win / Avg loss | Avg win · Avg loss | Typical size of a winning vs losing outcome. |
| Total wins / Total losses | Total wins · Total losses | Gross winning and losing dollars. |
| Best win / Worst loss | Best win · Worst loss | The single largest win and loss, with the market name. |
| Expectancy | Expectancy | Net realized ÷ decided markets — average realized P&L per market. |
| Payoff | Avg win / avg loss | Avg win ÷ avg loss. > 1x means the average win is larger than the average loss. |
| ROI | ROI | Return on the capital deployed. |
| Streaks | Longest streak · Current streak | Consecutive winning/losing days. |
| Drawdown | Max drawdown · Current DD · Max run-up | Worst peak-to-trough fall, current drawdown, and best run-up. |
| Avg trade / Median hold | Avg trade · Median hold | Typical position size, and the median time they hold a position. |
Rewards and Yield appear at the bottom only when the trader has earned any. The win/loss figures count settled markets only, while Cumulative P&L also includes open positions, so the two can point different ways.
#The lifetime vs sample distinction (important)
BOOPOLY computes two kinds of numbers, with different coverage:
- Lifetime — win rate, profit factor, ROI, and the realized win/loss stats come from BOOPOLY's own full index of the trader's closed positions. When a trader is fully indexed, the Performance summary says so ("Win/loss stats are lifetime (indexed)"). Volume and the markets count are lifetime too whenever Polymarket reports lifetime stats for the wallet. These cover the trader's whole history.
- Sample-based — the Buys / Sells / Redeems counts and average trade size are summed from the trader's recent activity feed, which is capped at a few thousand recent events (when Polymarket has no lifetime figure, volume falls back to this sample too). Treat these as approximate; a note under the header stats appears when the counts are capped. A
+on a trade count in the Explorer signals the same thing.
NoteUntil a trader has been fully indexed, Detail falls back to the recent-sample analytics for the realized stats too, and the Performance summary says "Some figures are estimated from recent samples, not lifetime."
#How to pick a trader
- In the Explorer, sort by more than one column. Profit factor and Win rate add context to P&L, which can be concentrated in a single market.
- Open Detail and check whether the realized stats are lifetime or sample-based; the Performance summary labels which.
- Look at payoff and expectancy together with win rate to see how wins and losses compare in size.
- Look at drawdown and streaks to see how much the trader's P&L has moved along the way.
- Treat trade counts as rough context, since they're sampled.
- When you've decided, press Copy this trader (or Copy in the Explorer) to open the wizard with that trader selected.
NoteEvery figure on these pages describes past trading and does not predict future results. A total budget and a loss limit in the copy wizard let you decide how much a copy can spend; see Copy Trading Settings.
