Sim and backtests — run your settings without real money
BOOPOLY has two ways to see how your settings place orders before you run them for real:
- Sim: paper orders on the live order book, with virtual capital;
- Backtest: your current settings replayed second by second over order books we recorded.
#Sim
Automated trading, copy trading and Live copy all have a Sim mode. It runs the same decision logic as a real run, without sending real orders.
| Feature | How to switch to Sim | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Automated trading | Pick Simulated at the top of the panel | Set your Virtual capital, then Start run |
| Copy trading | Pick Sim in the wizard | Start simulated copy; up to 30 at once |
| Live copy | Sim only for now | Create rules at /live-feeds; up to 10 at once |
What all Sim runs share:
- They run in your browser: while a tab of the site is open; closing it pauses them;
- They live in this browser: Sim records don't sync to other devices;
- No deposit needed: they work with an empty wallet and are not subject to the real-money region rules.
#From Sim to Real
Once your settings behave as you expect, switch the automated-trading panel to Real, or create a Real copy, with the same parameters. In automated trading, save the settings as a script first and load it when you switch.
#Backtest
Backtests cover BTC, ETH, SOL and XRP Up/Down markets (5-minute, 15-minute and 1-hour windows). In the automated-trading panel, the Backtest button sits above the Start button, next to Script.
#What you can choose
| Option | Choices |
|---|---|
| Coin and window length | BTC / ETH / SOL / XRP; 5 min / 15 min / 1 hour |
| Range | This run (the windows a run actually covered), or the last 24, 96 or 288 windows |
| Side | Up, Down, or Both (each side runs as its own bot; P&L is added per window) |
#What the results show
- total P&L, win rate, fees, max drawdown and the average per window;
- a comparison with Buy & hold and No trading;
- a split between the earlier 70% and the later 30% of the windows.
#How a backtest places orders
- the same engine as the 24/7 server;
- an order is judged 1 second after it is sent;
- a resting limit order fills only when the market trades through it;
- fees are charged in full;
- each window runs on its own, so the relay loss cap is not simulated.
Recording started on 2026-09-30 and keeps 60 days; windows not fully recorded are skipped.
